Moe Myint Htun was appointed to command the Naypyidaw Regional Military Command in 2015 and served in that position as commander until January 2017. In January 2017 he was appointed chief of staff of the army, or commander of General Staff (Army) with the rank of Lieutenant General. He served in that position until at least 30 November 2022. While holding the rank of Lieutenant General and commanding the General Staff (Army) there was at least one alleged disappearance, killing, rape or torture committed by unit(s) under his command. While serving as commander of General Staff (Army) he also concurrently held other positions. He was appointed commander of 6 Bureau of Special Operations in July 2019 and served in that position until August 2019. He was then appointed commander of 2 Bureau of Special Operations in 2019 and held that position to at least 1 February 2021. While commanding the 2 Bureau of Special Operations there was at least one alleged disappearance, killing, rape or torture committed by unit(s) under his command.
