Nyi Nyi Swe was commander of the 21 Military Operations Command before becoming a senior army commander with his appointment as Northern Regional Military Command with the rank of Brigadier General in March 2016. He was then promoted in rank to Major General as of 29 April 2016, holding that rank and continuing to be commander of Northern Regional Military Command until April 2018. While holding the rank of Major General and commanding the Northern Regional Military Command there was at least one alleged disappearance, killing, rape or torture committed by unit(s) under his command. He was then transferred to command Southwestern Regional Military Command in April 2018 and served as commander until being removed from his position due to a reported bribery investigation on 21 May 2018. His career after this point in time is not known.
