Soe Htut was appointed commander of Southern Regional Military Command with the rank of Brigadier General in August 2010 and served in that position with that rank until 30 June 2011. While holding the rank of Brigadier General and commanding the Southern Regional Military Command there was at least one alleged disappearance, killing, rape or torture committed by unit(s) under his command. On 1 July 2011 he was appointed commander of Eastern Regional Military Command with the rank of Brigadier General. He was then promoted in rank to Major General by at least 3 September 2011. He continued to command Eastern Regional Military Command with the rank of Major General to at least 12 November 2013. He then served as commander of Central Regional Military Command from at least 10 September 2014 to at least 5 September 2015. He then was promoted in rank to Lieutenant General and was the commander of Military Affairs Security from at least December 2016 to 9 February 2020.
