Soe Tint Naing was commander of Western Regional Military Command with rank of Brigadier General from 10 November 2017 to at least 17 January 2018. He was then promoted in rank to Major General by at least May 2019 and continued to command Western Regional Military Command until 27 May 2019. While commanding the Western Regional Military Command there was at least one alleged disappearance, killing, rape or torture committed by unit(s) under his command. His rank on the date of the allegation is not currently known, but sources establish it would have been either Brigadier General or Major General. He was then appointed commander of Northwestern Regional Military Command with the rank of Major General from 28 May 2019 to May 2020. In May 2020 he was appointed to be Deputy Home Affairs Minister. He was then promoted in rank to Lieutenant General by at least 9 September 2022 while still serving as Deputy Home Affairs Minister.
