Myat Thet Oo was commander of the 77 Light Infantry Division before moving up the army’s hierarchy to become a senior army commander, commanding Northern Regional Military Command with the rank of Brigadier General from at least 15 May 2021 to at least 24 March 2022. During this time there was at least one alleged disappearance, killing, rape or torture committed by unit(s) under his command. He was then promoted in rank to Major General by at least August 2022 when he was transferred to command Southeastern Regional Military Command. He commanded Southeastern Regional Military Command until 31 March 2023 when he was removed from his posting. He was reportedly then appointed ambassador to Laos in June 2023.
