Myo Zaw Thein

Myo Zaw Thein was commander of Yangon Regional Military Command with the rank of Brigadier General from at least 27 August 2015 to at least 25 September 2015. He was promoted to the rank of Major General by at least 22 April 2017 and continued to command Yangon Regional Military Command with this rank until May 2017. While commanding the Yangon Regional Military Command there was at least one alleged disappearance, killing, rape or torture committed by unit(s) under his command. His rank on the date of the allegation is not currently known, but sources establish it would have been either Brigadier General or Major General. Following this allegation in May 2017 he was promoted in rank to Lieutenant General and appointed to command 5 Bureau of Special Operations. He continued to command 5 Bureau of Special Operations until at least 7 September 2018. His career after this is currently unknown.
